Over the past two decades, Island Housing Trust has grown from a small community driven initiative into a leading nonprofit developer and longterm steward of permanently affordable homes. Today, with 174 completed homes and 140 more in the development pipeline, our mission has expanded in both scale and scope.

Our 2030 goals build on our solid foundation. We’ll strengthen our core housing development work while deepening our commitment to stewardship, environmental sustainability, community engagement, advocacy, and longterm financial resilience.
OUR 2030 GOALS
Through a rigorous, inclusive planning process—engaging residents, partners, town officials, staff, board members, and community leaders—we identified four strategic directions that will guide our focus and efforts through 2030
   Create the Homes
- Build an additional 200 permanently affordable year-round homes across all six Island towns
- Serve a balanced mix of low, moderate, and middleincome households
- Maintain deep affordability at the core
   Expand Capacity Through New Programs
- Strengthen the stewardship of our existing homes
- Implement a nitrogen mitigation banking program
- Create a centralized hub for information on affordable housing Islandwide
