Dear Friends,
Since 2006, Island Housing Trust has provided stability for 450 year-round residents through the creation of 166 permanently affordable homes for Island families. Thanks to your generosity, 142 more homes are now underway, offering housing for 350 additional residents.
As we enter our 20th year, we’re proud to share two historic milestones:
-
- Meshacket Commons (Edgartown): 36 rental apartments and 4 ownership homes on town land. By early 2026, 100 residents—including teachers, healthcare workers, tradespeople, and children—will move into safe, secure homes.
- Tackenash Knoll (Oak Bluffs): Construction is underway on 60 affordable rental apartments for 150 residents, built on town land next to the YMCA.
These neighborhoods represent the largest investment in affordable housing in our Island’s history, yet the need remains urgent. Across the Island, schools, hospitals, and local businesses struggle to retain essential staff as neighbors are forced to leave.
To meet this challenge, we must raise $2.5 million to complete 142 new homes, providing stable housing for 350 year-round residents by the end of 2026.
Help us reach our $1,000,000 year-end goal! Thanks to a generous donor, the first $200,000 you give will be matched dollar for dollar. And that’s not all—every dollar you donate will be multiplied tenfold through public project grants, dramatically increasing your impact.
Please make your gift today to help us build a stronger, more resilient Island community. We are deeply grateful for your continued support of our mission and the vibrant Island we all cherish.
With gratitude,
Philippe Jordi
