The Island Housing Trust held a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 15th to celebrate the completion of six newly renovated rental apartments at Village Court in Vineyard Haven. The Village Court apartments represent our community’s effort to address the Island’s critical workforce housing need, especially among households with lower incomes.
Philippe Jordi, Executive Director thanked the many generous donors, TRI – The Resources Inc., Dukes County Regional Housing Authority, Tisbury Community Preservation Committee (CPC), West Tisbury CPC, Edgartown CPC, and Chilmark CPC, Edgartown National Bank, Low Income Energy Affordability Network, Cape Light Compact, John Saari Housing Rehabilitation Consultant, JSR Adaptive Energy Solutions, Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of Boston, Tom Burke & Eric Skogstrom General Contractors, O’Brien Property Management, and everyone who helped make the project possible.
Those who attended the ceremony were given an opportunity to tour these newly renovated apartments with energy upgrades by Tom Burke & Eric Skogstrom General Contractors. Photographs of the ceremony and the Village Court apartments at various stages of renovation can be viewed at our Facebook page.
The Island Housing Trust was awarded $150,000 in Community Investment Tax Credits. This is the second year of a five year program that allows individual donors, businesses, and foundations to receive 50% of their contribution back from the state in the form of a tax credit or rebate.
