Carl Widdiss Way

Carl Widdiss Way is a neighborhood of four year-round, permanently-affordable rental homes created by Island Housing Trust in partnership with the Town of Aquinnah. Located behind the Aquinnah Town Center, the project includes two one-bedroom and two two-bedroom apartments within two free-standing buildings. The homes neighbor a playground and a food forest of Indigenous edible plantings.

Named for the late Carl Widdiss (Aquinnah selectman, Wampanoag elder, and housing advocate), the development honors his long-held vision of keeping Aquinnah a place where local people and families can continue to live year-round. Construction began in August 2023 and the project was celebrated with a ribbon cutting in May 2024. Tenancy at Carl Widdiss Way is managed by the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority.
