The Island Housing Trust purchased a 1-acre parcel of land off Greenwood Avenue in Tisbury to create a pocket neighborhood of six townhouses (3 duplexes) through a special permit from the Tisbury Planning Board. The neighborhood was completed and sold in July of 2020 within walking distance of downtown Vineyard Haven. Using an existing building design by LDa Architecture and Interiors of Cambridge, the Trust incorporated its high performance building standards to ensure maximum energy efficiency and long term affordability. Grants were secured from the Tisbury Community Preservation Act (CPA) to help cover certain development costs. Construction financing was secured from the MV Bank. The construction was completed by Williams Construction Company of West Yarmouth. The townhouses were sold to income-qualified homebuyer families. The Trust worked with the Dukes County Regional Housing Authority to conduct the homebuyer selection and lottery process. Photographs can be view at Greenwood photographs.
